Gift ideas for writers

Content is everywhere, and we have writers to thank for that. Writers are everywhere – novels, newspapers, blogs, articles, magazines, and not to mention television (news, television series, movies and etc.). Here is a list of gift ideas for writers to show your appreciation for them:

1. Chair pillow/cushion

When writers get into the zone, they can spend hours or almost the entire day seated in front of their laptop or computer. If you’re someone who has experience with desk jobs or this is your current occupation, you’ll definitely relate how uncomfortable it gets sitting in the same rigid position for long periods of time. Getting them a neck pillow, a cushion, or perhaps a combination of both is not only thoughtful but makes their work more comfortable.

2. Noise cancelling earphones

Many writers require a very quiet surrounding to work in for optimal concentration. Even if they have their own place such as a rented apartment or even a house of their own, there’s bound to some noise such as noises from incoming vehicles or even a neighbour’s dog barking. Therefore, noise cancelling earphones would be a major help as it would cancel out the outside noise so the writers are left with nothing but their thoughts and are able to write without having constant interruptions.

3. Notebook

Writers get their inspiration from many things such as watching a movie, observing or getting ideas from their friends and family, observing other people, nature and etc. While they can just use the notepad function on their mobile phones, there are still many writers who prefer to do it the more old fashioned way writing down the idea. This is where a notebook or a notepad comes in handy for them, and if they prefer to draw something instead of writing, it will definitely be easier and they will have more control than trying to draw on the screen of their phones.

4. Aromatherapy

Writing can be fun but can also be very stressful especially if they’re professional writers on a tight deadline and having writer’s block, not to mention the irregular sleep pattern. You may not be able to help them with their work but you can definitely get them some aromatherapy, in a form of essential oils or scented candles. Lavender, ylang ylang or citrus scents are the most popular for calming and soothing. Chamomile and bergamot scent is also known for helping with sleep.

5. Coffee Machine

This will be the most expensive out of all the gift ideas mentioned. If the writer you’re buying this gift for is a coffee lover and drinks coffee regularly, then this will be a good investment, as a good coffee machine can last for about five to ten years. Investing in a coffee machine helps to save time and money, as it is so much quicker than brewing your own coffee and in the long run, it is much cheaper compared to going out and ordering coffee from a coffee shop.
