Personally, I haven’t been playing card games much but I do know it is a good activity to get all family members involved and eventually turn into a family bonding session while playing the game. It goes without saying that you can definitely have fun with your family with just a deck of cards at any occasion, besides; your family members can join in the fun no matter how old they are, card games are suitable for all age groups. Here are some of the great card games to play with your family:
1. Blackjack
This is the first card game that came into my mind because my nationality is Chinese Malaysian, I live in a Chinese household and we will never missed out this card game every year especially on special occasions like Chinese New Year. Here’s a little bit background of this game, blackjack is played with decks of 52 cards and it is an American descendant of a global family of banking games known as Twenty-One. Each player will receive 2 cards at the starting of the game. While playing the game, I feel that it’s purely rely on luck, a little memory is involved too because you need to keep track of where the remaining cards have already been played as this gives you an idea whether you’ll be able to hit 21 and the luck of obtaining blackjack. It is quite a thrilling card game I would say!
2. Uno
Honestly, who doesn’t know Uno? Uno is such a classical card game that is super easy to pick up and quite impossible to put down. it is an American shedding-type card game that is played with a specially printed deck. Moreover, the game's general principles put it into the crazy eights family of card games, which is quite similar to another card game, Crazy Eight. Your objective or the end goal of this game is to be the first person to play the very last card that you have in your hand. A huge fun part of playing Uno is that you have to yell out “Uno!” when you are left with just one last card, some players do forget this rule from time to time which can be quite hilarious. At the end of the game, the player with the lowest score wins.
3. Solitaire
Solitaire is such a fun and excellent card game! You could play this on your own or with your family members which is quite a flexible game. Solitaire only requires one player and 52 decks of cards which is the standard number of cards we always use. The objective of Solitaire is to organize a shuffled deck of cards into 4 stacks in ascending order from Ace to King. This game might need some skill, memory and a little bit of luck. If you want to win this game, you should try your best to finish your cards as fast as possible to beat other players! Despite this game is more like a one-player game, but it is still a fun game for kids to learn and play. In addition, this game could possibly calm your mind and improve your decision making.
