Ever since the Corona virus hits the world, there has been so many lockdowns being implemented in countless countries in hope to break the COVID-19 chain. So how’s everybody doing during lockdowns? What a bummer for us that we have to stay home as much as possible! However, this is to avoid the spread of the virus, most importantly is to keep ourselves safe and healthy at all times. I’m not sure about you guys but ever since the implementation of lockdowns, I have more free time to myself as I do not need to travel back and forth regularly between my workplace and home which is such a relief. Due to the reason that I have more time in the mornings as I don’t have to commute to my workplace these days, I do appreciate the fact that I get to prepare my breakfast in a much relaxed state with the extra time I have. It is very crucial to start your day with a healthy breakfast because food is fuel! Here are some of my healthy breakfast ideas that you may want to try out.
How could one not love a good bowl of nutritious oatmeal? Honestly speaking, oatmeal is such a staple breakfast for me ever since the start of this pandemic, I just can’t get enough of it. Apparently, oatmeal has swiftly become a popular breakfast food these days and I’ll tell you why. Oats are healthy whole grain food and they are great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Without a doubt, oatmeal is a very nutritious food and this is an ideal meal for those who want to lose weight, it also helps to decrease the risk of heart disease since oatmeal aids in reducing one’s blood sugar level. The fun part about making a bowl of oatmeal is you can always add your favourite toppings to make it more tasty and colourful. Some examples of toppings are fruits, granola, nuts, honey and syrup, some people even add in chocolate and peanut butter to make oatmeal into a dessert. I know such combo sounds a little bit surprising but I guarantee you it’s so good because I’ve personally tried it myself!
Another highly recommended healthy breakfast idea is none other than yogurt bowl. Yogurt bowl is a very lovable breakfast food by many because it is full of protein, calcium and probiotics. Plus, yogurt bowl is super easy to make, you just have to scoop out a few spoons of yogurt into a bowl then add any topping of your choice just like how you do it with oatmeal. In my opinion, eating yogurt bowl is as if I’m eating a bowl of ice cream, what a way to jump start my morning. Bare in mind that there are 2 types of yogurt, they are greek yogurt and normal yogurt. The differences between them are greek yogurt contains more percentage of protein than normal yogurt and greek yogurt is much more sour than normal yogurt. In fact, some people might not used to the sourness of greek yogurt but it is still loved by many since it is very nutritious, the sourness is no longer an issue when you eat it with your favourite toppings!
Banana protein pancakes comes in third place after oatmeal and yogurt bowl. I feel that these protein pancakes have been blowing up since the pandemic started; it’s just such a fun switch up on your plain normal pancakes! These healthy banana protein pancakes are high in protein and fibre. They are quite simple to make and you only need 6 ingredients to make! You will need oats, eggs, banana, vanilla extract, baking powder and protein powder, blend them together in a blender then there you have your self-made pancake batter, don’t forget to use a non sticky pan to cook these your pancakes. After cooking your pancakes, you can add any topping that you like but must include maple syrup! It is a must have because it just goes so perfectly with pancakes.
